Manifesto of an Artist from a NATO Member Country
Read by Jason Liebman
Performance and Reception: Thursday, June 26th | 6:30 to 8:00 pm

Manifesto of an Artist from a NATO Member Country is a satirical meditation on the intertwined fates of Western art and geopolitics. In this ironic homage to military language and institutional critique, Yevgeniy Fiks explores how global artistic narratives have been shaped—and shielded—by the power structures of the postwar Atlantic alliance. Through a voice that is both deadpan and provocative, the work raises questions about cultural hegemony, allegiance, and the uneasy defenses erected around art and identity.

Lichtundfire is pleased to announce and welcomes all to the Opening Reception of Recent Collages from a NATO Member Country, a solo exhibition by New York-based conceptual artist Yevgeniy Fiks.

The exhibition, comprised of eighteen prints of collaged images on brushed aluminum, is based upon the following conceptual premise of defining conditions: How the so-called Cold War, the Western industrial military complex, and the multi-national coalition of the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) member countries are reflected by and can be seen through the lens of modern and postmodern post-war art; furthermore, how this reflection dominated the visual art experience equal to the military hegemony of the NATO member countries up to the present.
